BANGKOK, July 11 (TNA) – The new cabinet is capable and experienced and should raise farm prices and handle the baht value, said Supant Mongkolsuthree, chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries.
Cabinet ministers were experienced in economic issues and the multi-party government should be able to implement economic policies if they shared the same direction, Mr Supant said.
He proposed the government allow the private sector to participate in activities related to the Ease of Doing Business and discussions to solve urgent problems.
Besides, Mr Supant said that the government should raise the prices of farm products to increase farmers’ income. He also suggested the government lower interest rates to stop baht appreciation and support economic growth.
To boost the economy in the second half of this year, the government should give subsidies through welfare cards but that would be costly, Mr Supant said. He saw the trade war, low farm prices and corruption as major risks of the national economy. (TNA)
