PHUKET, July 10 (TNA) – Pad Thai is unlikely the cause of
an Australian couple’s illness as claimed since it is cooked at high
temperature, a local health official in Phuket says.
The Australian couple, Stacey Barnes, 32, and Ryan Prigg,
39, has claimed that after having Pad Thai during a family holiday in Phuket in
2017 debilitating parasite, Dientamoeba Fragilis, had buried deep inside their
intestines.
They just recently found that out after being turned to
“zombies” with health issues for a year which subsequently ruined their
successful lucrative business, according to Australian media.
Thai authorities in Phuket had launched an investigation on
the claim by the couple from Perth with a direct order from Prime Minister
Prayut Chan-o-cha.
Head of Phuket Provincial Public Health Office Dr Thanit
Sermkaew revealed that the food court where the couple had Pad Thai had been
examined; health and consumer’s protection officials had collected samples of
food for laboratory tests.
Dr Thanit said cooking Pad Thai required high heat that
should kill the parasite Dientamoeba Fragilis.
However, his office would contact Australian authorities for more
information as well as work with Disease Control Department and hospitals in
Phuket to further investigate the case. 
The Australian family spent a three-week “working holiday”
in a six-star accommodation in Kata Beach in July, 2017. (TNA)
