BANGKOK, March 6 (TNA) – Bangkok Airways and partners plan to invest 30 billion baht in an airport city project related to U-Tapao airport in the eastern province of Rayong and to join duty-free services at Suvarnabhumi airport.
Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, president of Bangkok Airways, revealed the move. He said the airline and two partners would tender a bid on March 21 for a contract in the Eastern Airport City project.
He said that the project would draw 200-billion-baht investment during its 50-year implementation period and initial investment would be about 100 billion baht.
Bangkok Airways and partners would have a 30-35% share in the initial investment. They already had their financiers for the plan, he said.
Mr Puttipong also said that Bangkok Airways was interested in joining duty-free shop business at Suvarnabhumi airport as Airports of Thailand PCL (AOT) would announce terms for the participation late this month.
His airline would form a consortium with partners to vie for the right and would determine the amount of their investment after AOT announced details of the project, he said. (TNA)
