KANCHANABURI, Oct 17 (TNA) – An injured tourist was rescued from a ravine and has been carried out of a dense forest to be airlifted by a helicopter.
Niphon Wongthap, 46, fell from a cliff about 30 metres into the ravine near Roi Wa waterfall in Khao Laem national park in Kachanaburi on Monday.
He and other four companions were found by rescuers after they had spent two nights there. The man has a broken leg and swelling on his head, according to a medic team, assisting him.
The injured tourist is being carried on a stretcher through steep slopes and it would take about 2-3 hours to reach an open area, about four kilometres away, where a helicopter is waiting to transport him to Sangkla Buri hospital.
The accident occurred deep in the forest and the area is not opened to tourists. It is still unknown how the group accessed the site but it is believed they walked about three hours from a hilltribe village. (TNA)
