NAKHON RATCHASIMA, March 18 (TNA) – An explosion at a scrap metal shop in Nakhon Ratchasima province, northeast Thailand, killed one woman and injured four others on Tuesday, authorities said.
The blast occurred at approximately 8:45 a.m. local time in the Wang Nam Khiao district, at a house operating as a scrap metal collection point.
According to initial investigations, the shop had recently acquired scrap metal from villagers who had collected items from Phu Lam Yai, a military training area used by the 2nd Army Region.
“While sorting the materials for weighing, a loud explosion occurred,” a local official said. “One woman was killed instantly, and four others sustained injuries.”
Rescue workers transported the injured to nearby hospitals.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was dispatched to the scene and discovered an additional unidentified explosive device.
The area has been cordoned off, and authorities have warned residents to stay away. The incident is under investigation. -819 (TNA)
