BANGKOK, Aug 12 (TNA) –Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has ordered concerned officials to closely monitor the impacts of global economic problems and will meet economic ministers to discuss measures to cope.
Government spokesperson Naruemon Pinyosinwat said Gen Prayut was worried about the impacts of the trade war between China and Unite States and global economic situations. He demanded reports on the impacts that he would discuss with his economic ministers.
The value of Thai exports in the first five months of this year shrank by 2.7%. However, the decrease was smaller than the 8.7% fall of Indonesian exports and the 7.4% decline of the South Korean exports in the same period.
“The prime minister ordered concerned organizations to work out solutions to cope with negative impacts and come up with new measures at structural levels so that the country can maximize positive impacts. This issue will be discussed in the next meeting of economic ministers. The prime minister stressed that economic restructuring must happen at upper, middle and lower levels. Income must be distributed well without leaving anyone behind,” the government spokesperson said. (TNA)
