BANGKOK, Aug 9 (TNA) – Investigators and EOD officials inspected rooms at an apartment in Soi Ramkhamhaeng 53 where suspected bombers stayed before launching series of bombings and fires in Bangkok and Nonthaburi last week.
The rooms were rented by one person for one month and many people moved in and out and carried something into the rooms everyday. About a week before the bombings, a few teenagers, wearing caps carried rucksacks into the rooms and they spoke in the Yawi dialect. The CCTV camera footage showed they boarded a passenger boat from Ramkhamhang pier to Pratunam pier on Aug 1.
After the bombings on Aug2, the police found the explosive devices used in the coordinated incidents were time bombs, similar to those used in insurgent attacks in the southern border provinces. The police cast suspicion that attackers could stay in Ramkhamhaeng area, the same location as the group, involving in the bombings in 2015.
During the two-hour search, officials found parts of explosive devices, the same as the photos they saw in a mobile phone of a suspect. White powder and several parcel postboxes were found in the rooms.
The police gathered forensic evidence, hair, fingerprints from the rooms for the DNA tests to identify the culprits. (TNA)
