NAKHON NAYOK, Aug 5 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said that those behind a series of bombings in greater Bangkok late last week were evil and hard-hearted because the violent attacks happened when Thailand hosted an important meeting.
Referring to progress in investigation into the bombs, some of which did not go off, last Thursday and Friday, Gen Prayut said the incidents involved many suspects and the government had not ruled out any possible motive.
“Please be patient. Today we know about 10 people were involved and they will be found and questioned… Not any single possible motivation has been ruled out. There are connections when past incidents are considered,” the prime minister said.
Bombings were happening in the world as people had different opinions, he said.
The prime minister said that those behind the bombs did evil acts because the incidents happened when Thailand was organizing the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
“The people who did it are cruel. They are bad and must be punished for causing disorder in the country when it is being developed by a democratic government,” Gen Prayut said.
He also said that authorities integrated intelligence operations for the first time and their findings indicated that many groups of people were involved in the bombings.
Gen Prayut dismissed the rumor that the government was behind the bombs. “The incident happened when there was the meeting of ASEAN countries and dialogue partners that included world powers. Who would have done that except those who wanted to discredit the government in an international forum?” Gen Prayut said. (TNA)
