TRANG, July 5 (TNA) — The chief of the Hat Chao Mai National Park asked local police to prosecute a South Korean broadcasting company for allegedly hunting and cooking a giant clam.
Narong Kong-iad, the chief of the marine national park, filed the complaint with police at the Kantang station in Kantang district after pictures indicating the hunting was posted via Facebook on July 3 and went viral.
The complaint targeted SBS Broadcasting Center that produced “The Law of Jungle” program. Through its Thai agent, the company sought permission from the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation for program production in the national park on March 29 and April 1-3.
Mr Narong said that the hunting pictures showed offences of hunting, harming, possessing and collecting a protected animal which violated laws on national parks and wildlife protection. Such offences carry a jail term of up to four years and a fine of up to 40,000 baht.
Besides, the pictures showed the incident happened at Ao Lo Udang bay but the company had sought permission to produce its program at Ao Sabai bay.
