BANGKOK, June 26 (TNA) — The Office of Industrial Economics (OIE) organized a meeting to introduce its ECO Stickers to motorcycle producers and distributors and their warm welcome indicates the possibility to reduce fine dust or particulate matter 2.5 micrometers and less in diameter (PM2.5).
OIE Director-General Nattapol Rangsitpol said the OIE convened a meeting with local motorcycle producers and distributors to discuss the ECO Sticker project and they expressed willingness to attach the ECO Stickers to motorcycles of their new models that would be exhibited in the Motor Expo in December.
Besides, they will do the same with all brand-new motorcycles to be delivered to dealers from Jan 1, 2020 onwards.
The project was aimed at consumer protection because the stickers would describe the rates of motorcycles’ carbon dioxide emissions and fuel consumption, their reasonable prices and their pollution control standards including those concerning PM2.5, he said.
Motorcycle producers and distributors can register their participation in the ECO Sticker project from Aug 1 on and apply for the stickers from Nov 15 on.
ECO Stickers respond to the cabinet’s resolution to base the excise tax on motorcycles on their carbon dioxide emissions to improve the environment. (TNA)
