BANGKOK, May 16 (TNA) – The World Bank is to revise
Thailand’s economic growth forecast down as a result of the escalating US-China
trade war.
World Bank senior economist for Thailand Kiatipong
Ariyapratya revealed at a seminar on Wednesday that the World Bank was
compiling economic data for a review in July.
With risk factors arising from the trade war, the World Bank
would likely revise the country’s growth forecast down from 3.8 this year and
3.9 next year, he said.
Uncertainty global outlook and economic slowdown of trade
partners would cause Thailand’s exports to decline, Mr Kiatipong noted.
Earlier, Thai Commerce Ministry said the trade war could
cause the country’s exports down between US$5.6-6.7 billion. The hardest-hit goods include electronics,
automobile and automobile parts. (TNA)
