YALA, May 16 (TNA) – About 5,000 schools in three restive southern border provinces opened today amid tight security after disturbances were reported in Yala last night.
Boonsom Thongsriplai, head of the Federation of Teachers in Three Southernmost Provinces said officials have launched integrated security operations to provide safety for teachers and educational personnel and students while they are travelling to and from school.
If there are teaching-related activities to be arranged outside school, it has to inform security officials, so they will be deployed to provide security along the travel route.
In Yala province, bombing incidents, believed to create disturbances were reported at six locations last night.
However, teachers at Baan Ruatawan School said that they are confident in the authorities’ security measures and in good spirits. However, they will remain vigilant for any irregularity to prevent untoward incident. (TNA)
