BANGKOK, May 14 (TNA) – Thailand will hold a grand
celebration for the enthronement of King Maha Vajiralongkorn with traditional
Thai performances and festivities from May 22-28.
After the three-day coronation ceremony earlier this month,
the government announced the events at Sanam Luang ground in Bangkok along with
those in all 76 provinces.
The Ministry of Culture presented a public relation campaign
for the seven-day celebration at Government House on Tuesday.
Before the weekly Cabinet meeting, the Ministry reported to
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha of the programme.
Prayut said he would like to invite the public to enjoy the
grand celebration and honor venerable traditions and customs of the Kingdom.
The main part at Sanam Luang will feature Khon Masked Dance,
Thai traditional dances and light and sound shows.
His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn was formally crowned on
May 4 in centuries-old royal tradition, which derives from Hinduism and
Buddhism and is full of religious symbolism.
The King completed his enthronement rituals to become the
10th King of the Chakri Dynasty and pledged “to reign with righteousness for
the benefit of the people.” (TNA)
