BANGKOK, Feb 22 (TNA) – Thailand and Laos press forward
welfare and skill development for Lao migrant workers in Thailand.
Thailand’s Labour Ministry and Laos’ Labour and Social
Welfare Ministry held a joint meeting in Bangkok on Thursday to follow up the
progress of a cooperation agreement on labour signed in 2016.
Thai Labour Minister Adul Saengsingkaeo said that the
meeting reviewed in the ongoing skill development programs during the past two
years.
Under the agreement, nearly 700 Lao workers had
participating in training workshops on management, tourism, IT and service.
The two countries also assessed progresses on social
welfare, employment information-sharing tool and labour rights protection for
Lao migrant workers in the Thailand, Adul said.
Officials in the meeting discussed the action plans for the
next three years to promote labour welfare for nearly 300,000 Lao workers in Thailand.(TNA)
