BANGKOK, Feb 5 (TNA) – HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will graciously preside over the opening of the 19th Chinese New Year celebrations at China Town in Bangkok this afternoon.
The ceremony will be held at China Town or Yaowarat’s landmark gate, marking HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s the 72nd birthday anniversary in 1999.
The festivities will stretch along Yaowarat road to Ratchawong intersection under the theme “Year of the Golden Pig: Prosperity, Good Health and Happiness”.
There will be an exhibition on Thai-Chinese relations and cultural performances during the two-day event.
The Princess will attend a dinner at the Shanghai Mansion hotel and visit the Thian Fah Foudnation Hospital and the royal family and the royal project shops.
She will take a tram-like bus to see the newly-opened Kiatnakin Bank, Yaowarat branch. The bank’s building features the unique Beijing architectural style.
She will visit the traditional Chinese drugstore and Kasikorn Bank.
The event will be broadcast live on MCOT HD30 from 4.30 pm.-6 pm. (TNA)
