CHIANG MAI, DEC 12 (TNA) – A pea eggplant tree with other
kinds of eggplants grafted on it is a star at an agricultural fair in
Thailand’s Chiang Mai city.
To the amazement of visitors, the extraordinary eggplant
tree is created by using basic farming technique of grafting to join other
varieties of eggplant.
It has been displayed at the 85th agricultural fair of Maejo
University since the fair was opened on Sunday.
Maejo University holds the fair this year to celebrate its
85th anniversary under the concept of “The Wisdom of Agriculture.”
The agricultural fair features exhibitions and recreational
activities, agricultural demonstration plots and offering organic produce.
As the eggplant tree demonstrates, the fair’s main aim is to
showcase the latest technologies and innovations as well as academic research
in agriculture.
Another produce that grabs visitor’s attention is a vertical
vegetable garden incorporating one-meter-long giant gourds, long cucumber
weighing 20 kilograms and other kinds of produce.
Until December 16, the fair also offers cultural and
traditional performances, educational activities, Smart Farming technologies,
seminars and exhibits of plants and animals.
Founded in 1934, Maejo University is the oldest agricultural
