CHIANG MAI, Nov 29 (TNA) – The temperature on top of Doi
Inthanon, Thailand’s highest mountain and a popular tourist destination in
Chiang Mai, sharply fluctuates overnight from minus 1 degree Celsius to 6
degree Thursday morning.
The peak saw subzero condition for the first time this
winter on Wednesday, attracting tourists to taste rare experience in the
tropical country. Official tourist
number is reported at 2,666 on Wednesday.
Many who climbed up the mountain on Thursday wishing to
witness the panoramic view and winter scenery were disappointed because of
thick fog blocking the view of morning sunrise.
For local farmers in the Inthanon National Park area,
warming up for cold weather becomes morning routine before they head out to
their plantations.
Weather forecasters say the whole northern part of Thailand
will have higher temperature by 2-4 degrees Celsius with isolated
thundershowers in some areas. (TNA)
