BANGKOK, July 15 (TNA) — Airports of Thailand Plc has received its first driverless electric train that is among six trains to operate at Suvarnabhumi airport.
AoT senior executive vice president Anake Teeraviwatchai presided over the acceptance of the train called Automated People Mover (APM) at the airport. It is a part of the second-phase Suvarnabhumi airport development project.
The train will shuttle on a distance of one kilometer between the main passenger terminal and the satellite airport terminal 1 (SAT-1). Each trip will take two minutes.
The rubber-tired train consists of two cars. It will run on a concrete road at 80 kilometers per hour. It can serve up to 3,960 people per hour/direction. AOT ordered six such trains.
Mr Anake said all the six trains with 12 cars would be completely delivered to Thailand by November. The construction of SAT-1 and the APM system was 88% completed, he said. (TNA)
