BANGKOK, Nov 27 (TNA) – ASEAN authorities discussed efficient solutions to transnational crime while trying to maintain border trade conveniences.
The discussion took place in the 13th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC) set on Nov 26-28.
Chairing the meeting, assistant police chief Pol Lt Gen Wisanu Prasarttong-osoth said Thailand hosted the meeting to work out solutions to transnational crime together with ASEAN member states. A main topic concerned the growth of transnational crime due to advanced technology and convenient transport.
Participants focused on efficient measures to cope with all forms of transnational crime including cybercrime and narcotics. Cooperation on border affairs was discussed to stop criminals from crossing borders while maintaining conveniences in border trade, Pol Lt Gen Wisanu said.
“Thailand continued to present border problems which it has efficiently solved. This year, ASEAN member states cooperate very well. I hope that the good cooperation will help solve border problems in a sustainable manner,” the assistant police chief said.
He added that China, South Korea and Japan this year participated in the AMMTC to support ASEAN’s efforts against transnational crime. (TNA)
