BANGKOK, Nov 13 (TNA) — The Commerce Ministry and the Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry sold 260,480 tons of natural rubber worth 13 billion baht to Chinese and Hong Kong companies.
Deputy Prime Minister/Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit said the Rubber Authority of Thailand under the Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry sealed memorandums of understanding for the exportation of 60,480 tons of STR 20 block rubber to a company of China and 100,000 tons of the same rubber product and 100,000 tons of ribbed smoked sheet bales to a Hong Kong company.
On Nov 15-19, Mr Jurin will visit Turkey and Germany to promote Thai exports including rubber. On Nov 20 there will be a meeting of natural rubber buyers and sellers and on Nov 29-30 there will be a rubber exposition at the IMPACT exhibition and convention complex in Nonthaburi province.
Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Chalermchai Sri-on said 1.71 million rubber growers registered themselves with the Rubber Authority of Thailand and his ministry was implementing 11 projects to help them.
Rubber plantations covered 20.45 million rai of land in the country this year, up by 0.43 million rai from last year, he said. (TNA)
