BANGKOK, Nov 8 (TNA) — Food delivery smart phone application raises the value of food delivery business to 35 billion baht this year with bubble tea as the most favourite order, according to the operator of GET food delivery application.
The operator of GET food delivery application conducted a survey on customers and found that 67% of them ordered 1-2 products at a time to eat alone, reflecting the increasing number of singles in society.
The survey also found that women formed the majority of its customers. The biggest proportion of orders was for dinner and more orders were placed on holidays than on weekdays. Besides, people in Bangkok placed ordered all day long and even late at night.
Orders for bubble tea were the highest, amounting to 300,000 cups a month. The survey also found that 190,000 stuffed buns were ordered last month.
Wongthippa Wisetkaserm, GET platform operation director, said food delivery contributed to 8% of the sales of restaurants and was growing steadily.
The value of food delivery business was expected to reach 33-35 billion this year. Of the amount, 25.74 billion baht would go to restaurants, 3.9 billion baht to delivery men, and 3.3 billion baht to app operators, she said. (TNA)
