BANGKOK, Oct 21 (TNA) — Deputy Prime Minister/Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit welcomed a Chinese ministerial delegation and asked about China’s previous promise to buy 200,000 tons of Thai rubber.
Mr Jurin received the delegation of Han Changfu, Chinese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, at the parliament. They discussed bilateral cooperation, the exchange of specialists, personnel training and trade in farm products.
Mr Han said his delegation intended to promote concrete agricultural cooperation for mutual benefits and his ministry and Thailand’s Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry had developed close cooperation through their memorandum of understanding on academic cooperation on agriculture, China-ASEAN cooperation on food and agriculture and farming cooperation under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation framework.
Mr Jurin expressed admiration on China’s poverty reduction and said Thailand was learning from that.
On the same occasion, Mr Jurin asked Mr Han to follow up China’s previous promise to buy 200,000 tons of Thai rubber from the Rubber Authority of Thailand because the Thai government urgently needed to help its rubber growers.
Mr Han promised to discuss the issue with concerned parties. (TNA)
