CHIANG MAI, Oct 10 (TNA) – A Swiss paramotor pilot faces charges following the paramotor crash at Chiang Mai Rajabhat University on Monday, in which he and a Korean tourist were injured.
The paramotor crashed into a football pitch at Chiang Mai Rajabhat University in Mae Rim district on Monday amid strong wind, 10 minutes after taking off.
The pilot suffered broken legs and the Korean tourist was severely injured. They are treated at Nakhonping Hospital.
Officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports found that the pilot has no license to operate the service. A legal action will be taken against him and he could face a maximum of two years in jail or a maximum fine of 500,000 baht.
Deputy Commander of the Chiang Mai provincial police Pol Col Piyaphan Patarapongsin said that the pilot will face charges for negligence, causing injuries.
Meanwhile, relatives of the South Korean tourist have sought the document from the police for claiming insurance in their country. (TNA)
