BANGKOK, March 24 (TNA) – The government has approved the domestic tourism scheme, Tour Tiew Thai, in which it will subsidize local tourists’ expenses on weekday vacations provided by travel agents.
Under the scheme set to be valid from May to August, the government will pay 40% of the expenses, limited at 5,000 baht per tourist and 1 million subsidy claims.
Subsidy recipients must be at least 18 years old and buy inter-provincial trips of at least three days and two nights between Sundays and Thursdays from travel agents. They will not be taxed for the subsidy.
Each participating travel agent can serve up to 3,000 subsidy recipients. The government allocated 5 billion baht for the stimulus scheme. (TNA)
