BANGKOK, Aug 21 (TNA) – Governor of Tourism
Authority of Thailand (TAT) will discuss with tourism operators to consider
extending operating hours of night entertainment venues in tourist zones with
an aim to boost tourist spending.
Yuthasak Supasorn, the TAT governor said that the
idea was initiated to extend the closing hours of night entertainment venues in
tourist zones across the country by another 2 hours, from 2am until 4am.
It is aimed to stimulate spending of foreign
tourists, who like stay longer at night.
The governor said he would take field trips to meet business
operators and relevant parties to discuss the idea.
The main night entertainment venues, packed with
foreign tourists are the main target for the new measure, which is expected to
increase tourist spending by at least 25 per cent from the current amount of
5,000-6,000 baht per head. (TNA)
