SAMUT SONGKHRAM, Aug 18 (TNA) – Thai police have seized over 100 million baht worth of illicit drugs, including crystal methamphetamine and dried cannabis, and arrested two suspects in a major operation, authorities announced today.
Pol Lt Gen Naiwat Padeamchit, Commissioner of Provincial Police Region 7, led a press conference to detail the operation, which resulted in the seizure of 210 kilograms of crystal meth (ice) and 390 kilograms of dried cannabis. The total street value of the confiscated narcotics is estimated at nearly 100 million baht.
According to Police Lt. Gen. Naiwat, the bust was a direct result of a national policy to aggressively combat drug trafficking. The strategy focuses on preemptive raids targeting key networks and their drug stashes, as well as confiscating assets obtained through drug-related crimes.
Police officers from Amphawa District Police Station apprehended two suspects, identified as Thongphon, 30, and Panida, 22. The suspects were found in possession of the illicit drugs.
Police Lt. Gen. Naiwat stated that the investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to identify and arrest other members of the drug network and seize their assets as stipulated by the law. -819 (TNA)
