PATHUM THANI, Feb 4 (TNA) – A lone robber has made off with 113 baht weight (approximately $160,000 USD) of gold jewelry from a shop in a shopping mall in Lam Luk Ka, Pathum Thani province. Police are investigating the brazen heist and believe the suspect acted alone and had planned the robbery carefully.
The incident occurred at a gold shop within a well-known mall in the Lam Luk Ka area. CCTV footage shows the suspect calmly entering the store and making off with the gold. Police Lieutenant General Akradej Phimolsri, Assistant Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, revealed after a meeting with investigators that they are not yet able to determine when an arrest warrant will be issued. He also stated that it is too early in the investigation to confirm whether any employees of the shop were involved.
“The suspect appears to have acted alone and planned this carefully,” said Lt. Gen. Akradej. “The employees were understandably frightened during the robbery and complied with the suspect’s demands.”
Preliminary investigations revealed that this particular gold shop has been targeted by robbers six times in the past 10 years. Lt. Gen. Akradej stated that police will be meeting with business owners and relevant parties to discuss and improve security measures at such establishments. The investigation is ongoing. -819 (TNA)
