BANGKOK, April 28 (TNA) – Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-ocha received 78 Thai nationals, returning from Sudan at the Don Mueang Royal Thai Air Force Base on Thursday night.
The Airbus A340-500 carried the first group of Thai returnees from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
They were welcomed by the prime minister, the foreign minister Don Pramudwinai. The prime minister wholeheartedly thanked all agencies helping the evacuation.
He greeted the returnees, asking them about their trip and studies. He was glad all of them safely returned home.
Among 78 returnees, 71 people are students from southern border provinces. Seven others are from Nonthaburi, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Phatthalung. They underwent post-arrival testing before going to stay at the hotel. They are travelling to their hometowns by the Royal Thai Air force’s C-130.
Thai authorities are preparing an evacuation for another batch of Thai citizens. (TNA)
