BANGKOK, Jan 22 (TNA) -The Thai Industries Sentiment
Index (TISI) in December dropped to 91.7, wilting under pressure from the
global economic fluctuations, drought situation and strong baht.
Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) chairman Supant
Mongkolsuthree reported on Wednesday the TISI survey which involved companies
in several industries.
He said the private companies were worried about the lower
domestic demands stemming drought-effect on agricultural products.
External economic situations and baht appreciation had also
limited the country’s exports, he said.
The TISI in December stood at 91.7 points, down from 92.3 in
November.
Looking ahead, the FTI predicted the TISI to reach 100.1 points
over the next three months, given other risks pressuring economic sentiment.
Suphant said the FTI recommend the government to speedily
implement measures to battle drought. (TNA)
