BANGKOK, Dec 5 (TNA) — Visitors are enjoying the weather in the North and Northeastern Thailand as temperatures in the two regions keep on dropping while winter season is now experiencing the country at present.
Villagers on the outskirt of the northeastern province of Kalasin have to keep themselves warmth by sitting around bonfire while outside temperature was at 15 degrees Celsius.
In lower northern province of Loei, temperatures in the past two days declined to only 5 degrees Celsius from between 10-14 degrees Celsius. It was colder on mountain tops of Phu Kradueng and Phu Rua because temperatures there declined to around 5-6 degrees Celsius, allowing sales of used jackets and pullovers to keep their bodies feeling warm.
One provincial seller said that his sales have jumped about 20 per cent in the past two days after it sluggish start for the season.
A new tourist destination at Pa Satok in nearby Phayao province was envied by a large throng of tourists who ventured there to experience chilly weather as the temperature declined to around 12 degrees Celcius while they viewed sea of fog before the sun rose.
Approximately 1,000 visitors travelled to a mountain top in Thoeng district, especially today due to public holiday. This morning’s temperature stood at about 7-8 degrees Celsius while it was 13.6 degrees in the provincial seat.
It is estimated that not less than 10,000 travellers would visit Phu Chi Fah in the northernmost province of Chiang Rai during this festive seasons.
Several guesthouses and hotels, especially those near mountains, in Chiang Rai have already been booked by enthusiastic holidaymakers.
In Chom Thong district of Chiang Mai, the temperature atop the popular Doi Inthanon before the sun rose this morning was at only 6 degrees, the lowest this month so far. Travellers had to wear coats and sweaters while they could not see the sun properly because of heavy mist.
The weather department in the North had forecast that weather in the North early in the morning would be very cold and there would be frosty atop mountains while the temperature would be between 12-15 degrees in towns. (TNA)
