BANGKOK, Sept 4 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha opened the 37th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting and encouraged Southeast Asian nations to work for a people-centered energy strategy for the sake of cheap and efficient energy.
Gen Prayut opened the meeting organized on the theme of “Advancing Energy Transition Through Partnership and Innovation”. Participants included energy ministers of Southeast Asian nations and trading partners and representatives of international organizations.
During the opening ceremony, Gen Prayut said Southeast Asian nations were increasingly demanding energy and renewable energy should be a right solution. Therefore, investment and research related to energy, especially clean one, were essential, he said.
He also mentioned the successful electricity supply project involving Laos, Thailand and Malaysia and promised to support the networking of power supplies in Southeast Asia.
“Today’s meeting will conclude a strategy for future energy and we will progress together in a stable manner because people are waiting for cheap, secure and efficient energy,” the prime minister said. (TNA)
