NONTHABURI, Aug 7 (TNA) — Executives of the Public Health Ministry received 4,500 bottles of marijuana oil from the Government Pharmaceutical Organization for free cancer treatment and research.
Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and senior officials of the ministry received the bottles of tetrahydrocannabinol extract. Each bottle contains 5 milliliters of the oil.
The ministry will then deliver 3,900 bottles to regional hospitals in 12 health care zones. Of 600 rest bottles, 100 will be for research on cancer cells in test tubes and 500 will be for cancer research with animal testing.
Dr Sukhum Kanchanapimai, permanent secretary for public health, said the marijuana oil would be used to treat cancer patients who received chemotherapy and the treatment would be free of charge. (TNA)
