SONGKHLA, July 24 (TNA) – Authorities arrested four Vietnamese fishing boats with 35 crew members for illegal fishing in the Gulf of Thailand, 270 kilometers off the southern province.
Anti-illegal fishing officials use a patrol boat to catch the four Vietnamese fishing boats that were trying to escape, about 270 kilometers northeast of Songkhla.
They were found to operate pair trawling and the mesh hole diameter of their nets is less than 4 centimeters which is prohibited in Thailand because such nets kill juvenile and small marine animals.
The Vietnamese boats were led to Songkhla late last night for prosecution. Their captains and crew members were charged with unauthorized fishing in Thai waters, at the Muang Songkhla police station. (TNA)
