BANGKOK, July 11 (TNA) – Interior Minister Anupong
Paochinda has called for better waste management and urged all sectors to implement
waste sorting measures.
Gen Anupong on
Thursday opened a seminar of local authorities and related agencies to discuss
effective waste management.
He told the gathering that waste separation campaign must be
carried out nationwide to raise awareness and encourage people’s participation.
The campaign should show the people how the lack of waste
sorting affect the environment, people’s livelihood and health, he said.
Gen Anupong then presented the awards to local
administrations that champion good waste management and waste separation.
The Interior Minister has also instructed provincial
governors and local administrative organizations to encourage the public to
exercise the 3Rs methods of waste management; reduce, reuse, and recycle. (TNA)
