BANGKOK, June 21 (TNA) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has launched a trial run of a new boat route, linking Phasi Charoen Canal to the Chao Phraya River free of charge for six months.
Deputy BMA governor, Sakonthee Phatthiyakul presided over the opening of the eight-km. boat route from Bang Wa BTS station to Tha Chang pier to facilitate commuters, travelling between Bangkok and Thon Buri side.
Passengers of the new boat service can connect with the MRT Blue Line’s Sanam Chai station in the future at Rajinee pier.
The boat service stops at five piers, including Bang Wa, Wat Intaram, the Memorial Bridge, Rajinee and Tha Chang.
Six boats with passenger capacity of 60 seats each operate every day on a trial basis from June 17 until December 16.
The boat leaves every 30 minutes during rush hours from 6am-9am and 3pm-7pm, and every hour from 9am-3pm. (TNA)
