BANGKOK, June 7 (TNA) – The commissioner of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau has not been formally informed of Australia’s big seizure of narcotics sent from Bangkok to Melbourne.
Pol Lt Gen Chinnaphat Sarasin, the bureau chief, said he had not received a report from Australian authorities on the seizure of 1.6 tons of crystal meth and 37 kilograms of heroin hidden in loudspeakers.
Thailand might be used as transit and the drugs were loaded on a vessel in the country before leaving for Australia, he said.
According to Pol Lt Gen Chinnaphat, his bureau always exchanges drug-related information with authorities in drug destination countries including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia and Southeast Asian nations to facilitate drug suppression in Thailand.
In the rainy season, drug smugglers were hurriedly transporting their products to minimize damage, he said. (TNA)
