BANGKOK, June 4 (TNA) – The Cabinet gave the greenlight to the construction of the fifth Thai – Lao Friendship Bridge, linking Thailand’s Bueng Kan with Laos’ Borikhamsay with an investment cost of 2.6 billion baht.
Nattaporn Jatusripitak, spokesman for the deputy prime minister Somkid Jatusripitak who is in charge of economic affairs said the Cabinet assigned the Highway Department to be in charge of the project.
Meanwhile, Laos will spend 1.3-billion-baht loan from the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA) for the construction of the bridge.
The project costs 3.9 billion baht in total and covers the distance of 16.18 kilometres, including 1.3-km-long bridge.
The bridge construction is expected to be completed in 2022 and will facilitate goods transportation between the two countries. (TNA)
