BANGKOK, May 30 (TNA) – More than 10 luxury cars worth
around 200 million baht have been seized in Thailand in the past six months.
The Crime Suppression Division (CSD) of the Royal Thai
Police has launched investigation after receiving complaints from buyers of
forged registration and other documents of those luxury cars such as
Lamborghini, Ferrari and Bentley.
Police found over 10 vehicles smuggled from a neighbouring
country without proper registration documents and declarations and later sold
at low prices.
Pol Maj Gen Jirabhop Bhuridej, CSD chief, said some of the
cars had license numbers taken from wrecked vehicles involved in crashes.
Smugglers also used other tactics to forge registration and
documents, he said.
The vehicles were smuggled into Thailand via border
crossings before put on online advertisements, said Pol Maj Gen Jirabhop.
He recommended prospective buyers to check records with the
authorities and make transaction via financial institutes.(TNA)
