CHON BURI, May 29 (TNA) – Royal Thai Navy and the US Navy conduct the 25th Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT)
military exercise at a naval in Thailand’s Chon Buri province.
Rear Adm. Paisan Meesri, commander of Frigate Squadron 2 of
the Royal Thai Navy and Capt Matthew J. Jerbi, commodore of US Navy Destroyer
Squadron 7 opened CARAT 2019 in a ceremony at the Frigate Squadron command
headquarters on Wednesday.
The joint exercise was aimed to enhance mutual combat
capabilities and promote information sharing and coordination of the two naval
forces, Rear Adm. Paisan said.
HTMS Bhumibol Adulyadej is among the seven Thai naval ships
taking part in the drill from May 28 to June 8.
To build mutual capability and support long-term regional
cooperation, CARAT 2019 consists of various exercises including anti-submarine
warfare and humanitarian operation. (TNA)
