BANGKOK, May 15 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha was worried about children’s addiction to mobile phones and urged parents and teachers to prevent the habit which caused emotional instability and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Deputy government spokesman Werachon Sukondhapatipak said the prime minister expressed his concern as addiction to mobile phones was rampant among pupils and teenagers. Surveys found that most young people grabbed mobile phones when they woke up and used mobile phones just before going to bed.
“Parents usually watch out for possible danger on their children outside their houses but may overlook the danger of mobile phones that are even inside their bedrooms. They should limit the time of their children using mobile phones for only 1-2 hours a day and do outdoor activities with their children. If their children show any abnormal sign, they should bring their children to see a doctor or psychologist,” Lt Gen Werachon said.
As the new school term started this week, the prime minister urged teachers to help protect children from phone addiction and plan good education and development for the young, he said. (TNA)
