BANGKOK, May 13 (TNA) – The Buddha’s relics, enshrined in the Grand Palace were brought to place at Lan Khon Muang plaza in front of the Bangkok City Hall for public members to pay respects during the Buddhism Promotion Week to mark Visakha Bucha Day.
The event is being organized until Visakha Bucha Day on Saturday (May 18) when morning alms will take place at the plaza on 7 am.
Other activities include the meditation ceremony at 10am. and the candle light procession at 5 pm. everyday.
Dharma talks, the traditional Vessantara Jataka or Mahajaiti preaching on the great birth of the Buddha and exhibitions on the spread of Buddhism and Visakha Bucha Day are among the highlights of the Buddism Promotion Week.
Wax figures have been on display to tell the story about the three major events in the life of the Buddha: his birth, his enlightenment and his death, commemorated on Visakha Bucha Day. (TNA)
