BANGKOK, April 30 (TNA) – Thailand gears up the final
preparation for the coronation ceremony for His Majesty King Maha
Vajiralongkorn.
The Cabinet ministers held a joint meeting with the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), at Government House on
Tuesday.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, who is also NCPO chairman,
told reporters before the meeting that he would discuss about the preparation
for the three-day ceremony.
Gen Prayut said the meeting would focus on how to facilitate
the public in showing their respects to the monarch during the historic event.
After His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn is formally
crowned on Saturday May 4, the general public will be allowed to demonstrate
homage to the new monarch during the royal procession on Sunday. The King and members the Royal Family will
travel on a seven-kilometer route from the Grand Palace to three Buddhist
temples.
Also on Sunday, the will be a ceremonial bestowal of royal
names and new titles upon members of the Royal Family at the Grand Palace.
