BANGKOK, March 28 (TNA) — The Government’s Cultural Wisdom Promotion and Protection Board acknowledged the proposed listing of Nora traditional dance as UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage.
It orders relevant documents to be submitted within this month.
Culture Minister Vira Rojpojchanarat said the board acknowledged a report on the progress in the proposal named “Nora, Dance Drama in Southern Thailand” to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Officials were coordinating the submission of relevant documents to the secretariat of the national commission for UNESCO that would then send them to UNESCO within March 31, the minister said.
He also expected the 14th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage will also consider the listing Thai massage which was proposed last year. The committee will meet in Bogota, Colombia, on Dec 9-14.
