BANGKOK, March 24 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has cast his ballot and encouraged people to do so for desired democracy.
Gen Prayut arrived at his polling unit on Pradiphat Road in Phaya Thai district, Bangkok at 8.19am. He and his family were eligible voters in the same polling unit but Gen Prayut showed up alone there.
The prime minister said he exercised his right as a citizen, like other people, and he hoped all eligible voters would turn up for the voting.
“Everyone wants democracy, so everyone must do it right through the election in a transparent manner and help one another develop the nation. I am happy that people are eager to exercise the right. But I also want everyone to be also eager to promote unity,” Gen Prayut said.
He also said that he would monitor election results at home.
Crowds of journalists were at his polling unit to report his presence. City Hall’s officials had to collect campaign posters there before the election because vote campaigns were prohibited during voting hours. (TNA)
