SAMUT PRAKAN, March 5 (TNA) – The two Thai fishing boats
seized by Cambodia have been released and returned to Samut Prakan province.
The two trawlers and 14 crew members were first reported missing
on March 2, prompting the Royal Thai Navy to launch a search operation.
The First Naval Area Command later learned that Cambodian
authorities had seized and detained the two trawlers and the fishermen that
encroached the Cambodian territorial waters, Rear Adm. Pichai Lorchusakul said.
Cambodia released them upon request by the Royal Thai Navy
on Sunday, Rear Adm. Pichai said after the boats, Chok Boon Mee 9 and Chai
Prasert 12, safely returned to the pier in Samut Prakan’s Mueang district on
Tuesday. (TNA)
