BANGKOK, Feb 22 (TNA) – MCOT has hosted a debate of
political parties contesting in the March 24 election, one of a series of TV
debates with different themes.
Four leading political parties were represented in the
debate to show their visions and policies on a special program on MCOT’s
Channel 9 Thursday night.
The primetime show focused on each of the parties’ key
policies and their perception of the country’s political situation.
Improving economic well-being of the people was urgent
policy of all four parties. Sudarat
Keyuraphan of the Pheu Thai Party said the party would improve the livelihood
of farmers, SMEs and workers.
Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva proposed price
guarantee for farm produce that would not hurt the government’s fiscal health.
Pro-junta Palang Pracharath’s spokesman Korbsak Phutrakul
said the party planned to contine various schemes to uplift the livelihoods of
impoverished grassroots people such as welfare cards for low-income people.
Thanathorn Jungrungrueangkij, leader of anti-military Future
Forward Party emphasized the needs to improve competitiveness of Thailand and
end the poverty among farmers.
MCOT will host other poll debate with different themes. The next will feature new faces of Thailand’s
political scene representing newly-established political parties. (TNA)
