BANGKOK, Feb 22 (TNA) — Thailand hosts the special meeting of the International Tripartite Rubber Council at Mandarin Oriental Hotel to review global natural rubber trade and plan marketing.
Attending the meeting, Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Grisada Boonrach said he would talk with the Indonesian minister of trade and the Malaysian minister of primary industries.
Yesterday officials discussed natural rubber situations last year and ministers from the three major rubber-producing countries would predict natural rubber markets this year, he said.
The ministers would also set guidelines for natural rubber marketing and acknowledge the progress of a regional natural rubber market and the operating results of International Rubber Consortium (IRCo) that the three countries founded to manage global natural rubber prices.
Besides, the ministers would sign a framework on natural rubber price stabilization, Mr Grisada said.
The framework included measures to keep rubber plantations in accordance with global demand, control rubber exports and strategies to intervene in problematic markets. (TNA)
