NAKHON RATCHASIMA, Feb 18 (TNA) – Eighteen Cambodian men
have been arrested for illegal logging in Thailand’s Nakhon Ratchasima
province.
Thap Lan National Park rangers, soldiers and police found
the Cambodians crossing into Thai territory via Thai-Cambodian border in
Chanthaburi province.
The men confessed of seeking valuable Siamese Rosewood,
known as Payung in Thai and seized firearms, foodstuff and chainsaws.
Park rangers said the Cambodians loggers were to meet with a
Thai national who would navigate the forest.
Many Cambodians intruded into Thailand for illegal logging
in prohibited areas as Siamese Rosewood is most sought after timber.(TNA)
