NAKHON PATHOM, Feb 12 (TNA) – Cultural authorities and
officials in Nakhon Pathom province have organised a grand ceremony to receive
Buddha relics from Sri Lanka.
Thai Culture Minister Vira Rojpojchanarat, local government
officials and the management and students of Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University
attended the ceremony to place the Buddha relics at the Language Center of the
university on Monday.
A delegation of Buddhist monks led by Phra Worakakotha
Sriyanaratanamahanayaka, leader of the Siam Nikaya tradition in Sri Lanka led a
procession to bring the Buddha relics from the Phra Pathom Chedi pagoda to the
university. International experts and distinguished guests joined the
procession.
The Buddha relics were brought to Nakhon Pathom to promote
Buddhism, honour the royal institution
and pay homage to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
The general public can see the Buddha relics at Nakhon
Pathom Rajabhat University from 7am to 9pm.(TNA)
