BANGKOK, Feb 1 (TNA) — National police chief Chakthip Chaijinda has ordered police nationwide to maximize security measures to ensure safety for local people and tourists during the Lunar New Year festival.
Deputy police spokesman Krisana Pattanacharoen said the tight security policy would be implemented on Feb 3-5 when Chinese New Year celebrations would be organized at many venues in Bangkok and other provinces.
The venues include Yaowarat in Bangkok and other places such as communities of the Chinese origin in Phuket, Suphanburi, Nakhon Sawan and Udon Thani provinces.
Pol Gen Chakthip was concerned about public safety and thus ordered police in all areas to take proactive security approaches including intelligence and immigration supervision, Pol Col Krisana said.
Local police would also facilitate traffic and advise residents to take precautions on fire, he said. (TNA)
